Tim Fields (center) of MDB, Inc. provided administrative and technical support for the EPA’s Environmental Justice Achievement Awards Ceremony on April 18, 2010, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Mr. Fields facilitated the selection of award recipients by convening an external stakeholder group, and from those discussions, Mr. Fields suggested top award candidates to EPA.
The award was presented by EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson (second from right) to Harold Mitchell (third from left), Executive Director of ReGenesis , a community-based organization located in Spartanburg. The ReGenesis Partnership received this outstanding EPA recognition for its success in creating a public-private-community partnership, which has resulted in significant environmental protection and community-revitalization benefits. More than $250 million in public- and private-sector funds have been leveraged in this community in the past decade to address environmental-justice issues.
