Compiled NIEHS/OSHA Safety Information for Oil Spill Workers

In its role operating the National Clearinghouse for Worker Safety and Health Training for NIEHS, MDB, Inc. developed a web page devoted to the safety and health of
those responding to and cleaning up the oil (NIEHS Safety and Training of Oil Spill Response Workers).
This site is continually updated. MDB developed a training tool for NIEHS and cobranded by OSHA, which provides awareness level information
that trainers can use to develop oil spill awareness training curricula. The training tool has also been made into a booklet for distribution to workers as a reference guide. Both the
training tool and booklet are available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese. A safety and health fact sheet was also developed by MDB.
On July 15th, Clearinghouse Director Deborah Weinstock presented information on the Clearinghouse’s role in the oil spill and other disaster response and cleanup activities to a National Library of Medicine Disaster Information Specialist meeting.
