Training
For decades, MDB OSH team members have been at the forefront of the development of key worker training initiatives.
- Spearheaded the creation of the “minimum criteria” for conducting effective hazardous waste training that became a non-mandatory appendix to the OSHA HAZWOPER standard.
- Facilitated experiments, through the NIEHS, with advanced training technologies, such as web-based courses for workers.
- Facilitated the development of major training programs and provided formal review of the technical and pedagogical quality of worker training programs as the main counsel to the NIEHS WETP.
- Developed a safety and health awareness presentation and booklet for workers responding to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
- Opened and operated a temporary Katrina Field Office in Louisiana to provide information related to post-Katrina cleanup to National Institute of Environmental health Sciences’ awardees, other Federal agencies, contractors, workers and the public.
