Living Up to our Motto: Doing Well by Doing Good
In the spirit of “doing good,” MDB employees look for opportunities to “do well” by providing assistance in projects that make a meaningful difference to others. Here is a sample of our efforts.
Our Green Team Boosts Sustainability in the Office
MDB supports sustainability goals through our internal company practices, our employees’ efforts, and our support of clients. We are examining our practices and looking for solutions in electricity use, employee energy use for commuting, sustainable purchasing, waste generation, and water use. Our overarching goal is to conduct business with minimum negative effect on our environment.
Our Green Team, a group of employees who lead our sustainability effort, produce a quarterly newsletter, The Quarter Green, that tells all staff about what MDB is doing as a whole and what individual staff members are doing to go green. It also provides tips that anyone can use in their home or community.
We Raise Funds for and Participate in Good Causes
MDB staff volunteered with the Anacostia Watershed Society to participate in its annual Earth Day clean-up. We collected trash and debris at Diamond Teague Park in Southeast Washington, located along the Anacostia River.
Team MDB braved 90 degree heat to compete in the 2010 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Wearing official tee-shirts, the team of 14 ran or walked the 5K course through Raleigh.
MDB benefited the Children’s Tumor Foundation through the Cupid’s Undie Run around Capitol Hill. Thanks to our effort, Ryan was the 7th highest fundraiser out of 800 runners.
MDB employees Kerri, Megan, Sara, and Whitney ran the “SPCA of Wake County Santa Paws 5K” in Raleigh, NC. This event raised funds to benefit the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Wake County.
