Community Technical Assistance

MDB provides technical assistance services that prioritize and address the needs of communities facing environmental and public health challenges.

We meet communities where they are. Being in the community and listening to communities’ concerns is our preferred approach. Our team works diligently to understand the problems communities face and employs innovative, locally supported, and data-driven solutions to address them.

We provide unique subject matter expertise. Depending on the community's need, we tailor our staffing approach to the issues faced by the community. We deploy our subject matter experts to assess a community's need and collect information through a comprehensive site visit that includes meetings with diverse stakeholders.

We partner with existing networks and providers. A community may be working with an existing provider, and MDB is highly adept at finding new avenues of collaboration and cooperation to enhance existing partnerships. We collaborate with nonprofit organizations, academia, and municipalities to identify community solutions and work toward implementation of those solutions.

Meetings and Events

MDB staff organize and coordinate site visits, community planning sessions, and workshops that encourage conversations and empower stakeholders. We have trained and expert facilitators that seek to collaborate with stakeholders and work toward meaningful solutions.

Technical Analysis

MDB’s subject matter experts and analysts conduct needs assessments, provide project management support, engage directly with communities onsite, and draft reports to address our clients’ unique and dynamic needs.

Outreach and Training

MDB’s communication staff combine technical expertise with cross-media communication skills to effectively reach and assist diverse audiences. Our staff produce an array of communication products, including fact sheets, success stories, instructional guides, graphics, videos, and newsletters.

Tribal Support

MDB staff are experienced in providing technical assistance to Tribal governments to address environmental and public health hazards. We understand the unique cultural and sovereign dynamics of Tribal communities and have experience with advising Tribal leaders and government staff.

Planning Support

Through direct community engagement, we support local governments with identifying challenges and solutions, developing comprehensive long-term management plans, and craft applications for funding.
