Facilitating Crucial Environmental Justice Discussions

The ask: Several federal, state, and local government entities; private sector; and community organizations have needed an experienced facilitator during crucial environmental justice discussions.

The solution: For more than 20 years, Timothy Fields, Senior Vice President of MDB, Inc., has served as the honest "broker” for several dialogues between government, community organizations, and private industries on matters related to environmental protection, health and safety, job creation, and community revitalization.

For instance, Tim is the facilitator for an ongoing discussion in Bridgewater, New Jersey, between Pfizer, the Environmental Protection Agency, local and state government officials, and community residents about a cleanup project for the American Cyanamid Superfund Site.

Since 2001, Tim has also facilitated conversations for ReGenesis, a project that addresses environmental and health inequities in Arkwright, a low-income community of primarily Black residents in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The project has become a national model of environmental justice achievement.

Notable outcomes: Over time, ReGenesis has raised nearly $300 million to clean up polluted areas and provide residents with access to healthcare, environmental monitoring, better housing, economic and educational opportunities, emergency management services, and improved public safety.
