New Webpage Celebrates 25 Years of Training Program
The ask: The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Worker Training Program (WTP) wanted to memorialize the 25th anniversary of its Environmental Career Worker Training Program (ECWTP). Since 1995, the ECWTP has delivered training to increase employment opportunities for disadvantaged and underrepresented workers in areas such as environmental restoration, construction, hazardous materials/waste handling, and emergency response.
The solution: With input from WTP staff and funded organizations, MDB developed an ECWTP 25th anniversary webpage and a series of subpages that celebrate the milestones and achievements of the program. MDB communication specialists and web developers designed the layout and format of the landing page and webpages using custom JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. The webpage, which was launched in early 2020, included a program timeline, trainee spotlights, and interactive multimedia content, such as videos and images to promote the ECWTP’s success and impacts. MDB also created a unique ECWTP 25th anniversary logo and word cloud, which is displayed on the webpage.
We also partnered with WTP to promote the webpage materials across NIEHS and other networks. In August 2020, MDB staff wrote an NIEHS Environmental Factor article to highlight the webpage and examples of ECWTP efforts.
Notable outcomes: The ECWTP 25th anniversary webpage is a great example of MDB’s efforts to design interactive, user-friendly website products that raise awareness of federal and public health initiatives.
